well, i'm in a pretty shitty mood. i'm very particular about things i like and what i do and that's why my personality and style is misconstrued. it really pisses me off.
plus Quinton RAMPAGE Jackson just lost the lightheavyweight title and that really pisses me (and my kitty) off.
fuck it.

| haircuts |
[02 Jul 2008|09:39pm] |
I know this is kind of a ridiculous question, but...
I'm doing one summer session at NYU, commuting, and am not familiar with the city at all. It's also about time I got a haircut.
I was hoping for a place where I could walk in and say "Give me something androgynous, but not too disgustingly scene or anything, and I have no idea what I want so just do something that looks good." I want someone who will see my hair and know exactly what to do with it (if such a thing exists). My hair's only a few inches long, nothing beastly, but I've never taken style into account when getting a cut before... I normally just make it shorter and it remains bland, or have a friend cut it. I don't want to pay more than $40-$50. My schedule's tight, so near NYU is a must. I checked the memories but the posts are four and five years old. Hairdresser must have prior experience with needy, clueless gay men.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

| Need a room for the fall |
[02 Jul 2008|09:21pm] |
I'm going to be coming back to NYU in early August, and as I'm quitting housing I'd like to room with someone for the semester. If anyone needs a roommate for August - December, that would be perfect, though I'd consider a year-long lease as well. I'd prefer something in Manhattan or Brooklyn, under $1500 (or even $1000) and a single, and I'm a girl but I don't have to live with girls (I'm gay). I'm pretty flexible, so let me know if you know about something remotely like that or have more questions about me.. thanks!

| How was your NYU experience? |
[02 Jul 2008|07:08am] |
|
Hi guys! I'm going to be a student at Stern this upcoming fall (class of '12), and I am very anxious about the experience because not only am I going out of state, I am the first and only one from my high school who will be attending NYU...so no one has told me anything. I've heard a lot of crap about people's experiences, and it makes me feel nervous that I won't be having a fun one. "Half the guys at NYU are gay", "the only way to have any fun at NYU is to get trashed because there's nothing else to do", "Sternies and CAS students hate each other", etc etc. Voice your thoughts about this? What has your experience been thus far at this school? I'll appreciate any comments.

Hey Folks.
So, other that NY Adorned, where do you all recommend getting inked in these parts? Anywhere that's particularly good at fancy, swirly lettering?
Thanks in advance.

| tuition |
[01 Jul 2008|11:14pm] |
omgosh i am so confused about the tuition!
i signed up for the salliemae tuition plan thing so i'm currently trying to figure out exactly how much my tuition will be..i looked up bursars website but i'm confused!
Academic Year 2008-2009 Gallatin School of Individualized Study (Undergraduate) Full time students, tuition, 12 to 18 points flat rate, per term $17,615.00 Nonreturnable registration and services fee for flat rate, per term $1,071.00 Additional tuition, 19 or more points per term, per point (includes a nonreturnable registration and services fee of $58.00) $1,096.00 Tuition, per point $1,038.00 Nonreturnable registration and services fee: First point Fall Term 2008 $395.00 First point Spring Term 2009 $408.00 Nonreturnable registration and services fee, per point, for registration after first point $58
so exactly how much is it? i know for the two terms it's 17615 X 2...but do i count all those registration fees too? sorry if a really obvious question but yeah...i'm confused.
also, when do we know how much room and board is? or does it depend on where we get put? has anyone else done the sallie mae thing?? just wondering...what happens if i end up paying too much, will i get my money back?

| Housing Needed |
[01 Jul 2008|03:58pm] |

Hey Everyone,
I'm looking to find a roommate/a place to for me and my cat as early as July 14th. I've scoured Craigslist, but nothing is coming back the way I want it. I'm looking for a place in Brooklyn, Williamsburg or Prospect Park, but just generally within a 45 minute traveling distance to Midtown Manhattan. I can pay up to $1,000 a month for rent including utilities. I'm laid back, clean, outdoor only smoker, LGBT friendly, and getting a little desperate. I would prefer a female/gay male roommate, but this isn't a deal breaker. If you know anyone who has a room available, or if you have one yourself, please let me know!

| Calling anyone who knows anything about Illustrator and/or Flash |

Let me know if you have any ideas of what the problem is:
I've been getting musical scores into Flash, with every note/line/accidental as a separate object, by exporting from Sibelius as an EPS, exporting from Illustrater as an swf, and importing into Flash. This has worked fine on my computer, with my key-served Illustrator CS3 and Flash CS3. But When I try to open many of these Flash files (either FLA or SWF) on some of the OIT computers (the ones in 316, but not the one in 206), all of the noteheads are missing. This is only the case for the ones I've started this summer. The ones I did with earlier versions of Illustrator and Flash two summers ago show up fine. If I export/import from Illustrator on the Jesup computers, it shows up fine. I don't think it's a font thing. My computer and the Jesup computers supposedly have the same versions (CS3). Same problem with Macs and PCs. I'm rather at a loss. Anyone want to help?

[01 Jul 2008|01:38pm] |
Hey
I'm looking for contacts in NYU's nursing program, or people who know a lot about it... I'm looking to transfer over in the spring if I get in... just wondering if anyone can help me out with more information on what it's like.
Thanks!

March of the Penguins is one of the weirdest movies ever. Also: It's much funnier if you imagine narrator Morgan Freeman as actually being in every scene.

| Singers Needed |
[28 Jun 2008|11:36pm] |
|
Hope everyone is having a great summer!
I posted a request for singers some months back, and now I'm looking again.
My collaborator and I from the NYU Tisch Graduate Musical Theatre Writing program are looking for singers for a demo we need to record for the Steinhardt new musical submissions. This will only be a rough demo and will not be one that will be sent out to industry. However, if the recording goes well, and we click, we would definitely consider including you on the industry demo.
The musical is a loose retelling of The Scarlet Letter set in a gypsy caravan.
We are looking for male voices primarily, but would not turn away any women willing to help us out.
The recording will be on Monday afternoon. (Time to be determined, according to response availability.)
The composer is looking for great readers/quick learners. If you're willing to do it, I can send music and rough recordings, so you can get a fair sense of the song before Monday.
My phone number is 347-420-6754. Name's Robin. Call any time day or night.
If you aren't able to, but know someone who would be willing to contribute their voice to a demo recording, just give me a call.

Hilarious discussion. People are, well, often idiots. Tangent: Number one on my pet peeve list right now is "bisexuality is a fad". Yeah, I get how the absurdity of everyone and their mother declaring bisexuality could be a little offensive to life-long homosexuals. But seriously. Let people determine their own sexuality. It ain't none of your business unless you're involved!

"the Nobel Prize-winning organization Physicians for Human Rights has released a report, called “Broken Laws, Broken Lives,” that puts an appropriately horrifying face on a practice that is so fundamentally evil that it cannot co-exist with the idea of a just and humane society.
The report profiles 11 detainees who were tortured while in U.S. custody and then released — their lives ruined — without ever having been charged with a crime or told why they were detained. All of the prisoners were men, and all were badly beaten. One was sodomized with a broomstick, the report said, and forced by his interrogators to howl like a dog while a soldier urinated on him.
He fainted, the report said, “after a soldier stepped on his genitals.”"

Seriously. If you support torture-- you are my enemy more than just politically.
